Headteacher's Blog - 01.09.2025

We look forward to welcoming your child back to school tomorrow. We hope that you have enjoyed a happy, restful summer and that your child is excited about their return to school, seeing their friends, class staff and beginning their year in a new year group and classroom.

On behalf of the staff team, thank you very much for your support and kindness at the end of last term, sending staff home with your kind words of appreciation, cards and generous gifts – we are very grateful for your trust and generosity.

At the end of last term, we said goodbye to Miss French, Miss Galan and Miss Kazmi, who have all moved on from Coppetts Wood, for new challenges and opportunities. They will be sorely missed by our school community and I am sure that you will join me in wishing them the best of luck for the future.

I can also now confirm that Jack Faulkner, the school chef, will not be returning to Coppetts Wood this autumn, having taken up a chef’s position in another London borough. I wish Jack lots of luck and happiness in his new job and would like to thank all four staff leavers for their hard work and commitment to our school community.

We will be working with a new catering company after half-term and until then, we have an experienced, interim chef in place. The chef has been working closely with Mrs Goldring, to prepare for lunchtimes at Coppetts Wood, establish a new menu, and get to know our community context and needs of our pupils. She is very much looking forward to working at our school and providing a menu that pupils will enjoy. I will be informing pupils of this change, during our whole school assembly, tomorrow morning.

At the end of last week, you will have received information about our new after school club. SOTO is joining our school community, offering a range of both structured activities and free exploration, as part of our daily wraparound care. To find out more information and to book your child’s place, take a look at the SOTO website and what is offered by our new provider.

Please ensure that your child arrives to school tomorrow dressed in full school uniform, starting the term as they mean to go on. We encourage but do not insist on logoed items, helping to keep costs down. A review and consultation regarding our school uniform will take place this half-term, with parents and carers encouraged to take part, share their opinions and provide feedback. More information to follow.

This week, our new Early Years classes will be joining, gradually building up to their first full day, on Friday. We are looking forward to working with both the new and existing families of our youngest pupils, to support a smooth transition and successful first term at Coppetts Wood.

See you all tomorrow!
