Headteacher's Blog - 25.06.2025

Last Wednesday, pupils in Year 5 (and a few in Year 4 and Year 6) were finally able to perform at the Barnet Music Festival. Their original performance at the Artsdepot had been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances at the theatre. Thankfully, the show went ahead on Wednesday, with Coppetts Wood pupils performing alongside pupils from other local schools, supported by a packed audience of family and friends. It was a very special, joyous evening and the performances were fantastic! Our very talented Coppetts Wood performers really did themselves and our school proud – their drumming and singing were both amazing! Thank you to Miss French, Miss Bliss and Mr Warwick for supporting and preparing pupils so well for their performance. Thank you also to the families who, despite the last minute change of date, supported their children and the Music Festival by purchasing tickets, helping pupils to practise the songs and being part of such a super audience.

Year 1 have been busy practising their baking skills, making gingerbread. They worked very hard, had great fun and learned lots about the art of baking, by making their own mini gingerbread figures… and one gingerbread giant!

Monday was Olympic Day! Pupils across the school marked Olympic Day by taking part in a Daily Mile. Monday’s assembly reminded pupils of the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship and what these values might look like, in practice, and that every Olympian was once a child, just like them, with dreams and ambitions for their future. During the Daily Mile, pupils could walk, jog, skip or run the course and include some special Olympic moves, including ‘The Bolt,’ swimming or a victory pose.

Mrs Haxhijaha is busily organising the timetable for Career’s Day on Friday 11th July, 2025. If you would like to be part of this exciting event, to inspire and empower our pupils, please contact the school office. We would like to provide information and experiences relating to a wide range of jobs and professions, to broaden pupils’ goals and aspirations.

Tomorrow will be a non-uniform day! As part of the PTA’s fundraising drive, on the run-up to the summer fair (Saturday 12th July 2025), pupils are welcome to wear non-school uniform to school tomorrow for a £1.00 donation.

If you have visited Coppetts Wood during the last few weeks, you will have noticed some wanted posters relating to some very cheeky monster runaways who have been hiding around our school! Thankfully, all of them have now been found, safe and well around school, and returned for safe-keeping, to our Reception class. Pupils across the school have been enthusiastically involved in the search, learning about the emotions that each Colour Monster represents and helping them to understand their own feelings.
