Brief Reminder - Start of Term 3rd September
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you have all had a relaxing summer and are getting ready for the new school year! At school, we definitely are and are very much looking forward to seeing you all back together once again.
Just a few reminders for the start of term:
We have an INSET day for staff on Wednesday 2nd September and ALL children who attended Coppetts Wood PS last year, including those in the Early Years Foundation Stage who have a place at school this year, will begin on Thursday 3rd September.
All 3 gates will be open from 8.30am each day and close at 8.55am and then open again at 3.20pm. Nursery children’s sessions run from 8.30am until 11.30am and then 12.30pm until 3.30pm with some children doing a full day. The rest of the year groups can enter their classroom any time between 8.45am and 8.55am and can be collected any time between 3.20pm and 3.30pm. Usual late procedures will apply before and after school.
If your child is starting in Years 2 to 6, they will be in their new classroom with the teacher they ended last school year with. Staff will be in the playground on the first days, before and after school, to help you so do not worry if you are unsure about where to go.
If your child is starting Year 1, they will begin with Joanna in the Reception classroom on 3rd September before making a transition to the Year 1 classroom during the first weeks of the term. Hollie McKay, who has joined Coppetts Wood, will work alongside Joanna initially before moving permanently into the Year 1 classroom from Monday 14th September.
If your child is remaining in Nursery they will begin with Ruth in the Nursery on the 3rd September. Or, if they are moving from our Nursery into Reception, they will begin with Ruth in the Nursery classroom on 3rd September before making a transition to the Reception classroom, with Joanna, during the first weeks of the term.
Any children who do not currently attend Coppetts Wood but are joining Nursery or Reception in September will have a start date from Monday 14th September.
All children in Reception to Year 6 will be expected to wear the correct school uniform from Thursday 3rd. They will need to wear their school P.E. kit to school on the day(s) their class are doing P.E. rather than bring it in a bag to change into. Teachers will let you know when your child/ren have P.E. at the beginning of term. Please see the school website under ‘parents’ and ‘uniform’ for further information about school uniform and P.E. kits.
Hot meals, for those having school lunches, will be provided as usual from Thursday 3rd September. Your child will be provided with a school water bottle so only need to bring into school their book bag and their packed lunch if they are not having school lunches. We want to limit items moving between home and school as much as possible.
As the office will not be open in the way it was before COVID-19, you need to phone or email to either ask a question, share a concern or to make an appointment to meet with Evangeline or any other member of staff. Any post you have for the office can be placed in the designated area in the Bird Hide outside the main school entrance.
Further, more detailed, information about the new school year will be sent out on the first day of term and the updated version of the live risk assessment will be on the website before the start of term.
Any questions or please call the school office or the school mobile (07917 555102) or email the office or myself (firstname.lastname@example.org).
With Best Wishes,
