Outdoor learning
Nursery and reception classes share a large outdoor space which we call the garden. As well as a large playground space where children can build, climb and play, the garden has a wildlife area, a mud kitchen, an area for growing fruits and vegetables, a large sandpit, and a bike area.
Both nursery and reception classes have a free flow system between inside and outside, where children have the freedom the choose where they would like to play and the activities they would like to participate in. The garden is open all year round and, in all weathers, as we believe this provides children with the best possible learning experiences.
In addition to this, the children in nursery and reception both have additional raised beds in the school's Eco-Garden where they have the opportunity to grow even more produce to harvest and eat, as well as taking part in yearly whole school food growing competitions. Located in the Eco-Garden area is the school pond, which children regularly visit to go pond dipping as well as learning about the life-cycles of frogs.
