Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education
In our school we promote children's spiritual. moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development as well as promote the fundamental British Values (see School Aims). We hope our children show this in the following ways.:
Spiritual development
Being reflective about their own beliefs and showing and interest and respect for different people's faiths, feelings and values; Enjoying learning about themselve others and the world around them;
Using their imagination and creativity in their learning;
Reflecting on their experiences
Moral development
Recognise the difference between right and wrong;
Respect the law;
Understand the consequences of their behaviour and actions;
Interest in investigating moral and ethical issues;
Offer reasoned views and appreciate the viewpoints of others
Social development
Use a range of social skills in different contexts;
Willingness to participate in a variety of communities and socia settings including volunteering, cooperating well with others and being able to resolve conflicts effectively
Accept and engage with the 'British values' of democracy, the rule of law, liberty, respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
Cultural development
Understand and appreciate the wide range of cultural influences that have shaped their own heritage and those of others;
Understand and appreciate the range of different cultures within school and further afield
Appreciate the role of Britain's parliamentary system;
Willingess to participate in and respond positively to artistic, musical, sporting and cultural opportunities;
Interest in exploring, improving understanding and showing respect of different faiths and cultural diversity and the extent to which they understand, accept, respect and celebrate diversity as shown in their tolerance and attitudes towards different religious, ethnic and socio-economic groups in the local, national and global communities.
