RSE Consultation Spring 2021
As a part of your child’s educational experience at Coppetts Wood Primary School, we aim to promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive taught programme of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education that gives children and young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and fulfilled lives, both now and in the future.
The Department for Education has announced changes to Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). These changes came into effect in September 2020 and all schools are required to comply with the updated requirements, making Relationships Education compulsory for all pupils receiving primary education. It has been 20 years since the last review of these curriculum areas, and in that, time the world has changed significantly. Children now face new challenges: they have to process lots of information from different sources (e.g. TV, the internet, social media), understand how society is changing and understand risks they may face – this all puts pressure on their physical and mental health.
This means we have been reviewing our RSE Curriculum and policies and will be doing so in consultation with you. The consultation process starts on Monday 1st March 2021 and the consultation will close on Friday 19th March 2021 (3 weeks.) Please do complete the parent survey. Your views are very important to us and we will respond to you on the outcome of this process later in the term. If you have any further comments to make, then please reply to firstname.lastname@example.org
Once we have considered all the feedback, the draft update Relationships and Sex Education Policy will be uploaded to the school’s website which will set out the proposed curriculum and how you can feedback.
